Be a Bibiten model

Do you have nice photos of Bibiten clothes? I am having a Bibiten modelling competition! L$2000 first prize, L$1000 second prize, $500 third prize. Your photos could be featured on the blog, in the store, and on Bibiten ads. The closing date is 2010-01-10.

Here are some lovely photos made by my friend Skyline a while ago, just as some examples. But let your imagination wild!

How to enter:
  • Please make sure your photographs are at least 512x512, and preferably higher resolution. Use Second Life “Hi Res” screenshot if you can. Here is the Second Life guide to taking snapshots.
  • Please make sure the Bibiten clothing is featured prominently. Even better if it is in a cool or fun context with an interesting or lifelike pose. Try to avoid common “model poses”.
  • Do not manipulate or touch-up your pictures with Photoshop except to crop or make global adjustments to brightness, colour balance, contrast etc. I want to see things as they are in Second Life.
  • Upload your photograph to a photo sharing site such as Flickr and add it to the comments on the Bibiten blog entry.
As an extra incentive, I will refund you for up to five clothes you model. Here is how:
  1. Buy the clothing from Bibiten.

  2. Make some modelling photos and post them here.

  3. Send me an IM saying which thing you bought. I will send you a refund!
I'm running this competition mostly for fun, but partly to get some nice pictures to help me promote Bibiten. So if you'd rather not have me use your photo for that, please don't submit it.

I'm really looking forward to seeing some great pictures!

Here are some of the entries so far from the Flickr pool:

Terms and Conditions The competition will be judged by Mimika Oh at her sole discretion. Her decision is final, and she has no obligation to enter into correspondence concerning the decision. By submitting a photograph to this competition, you automatically grant, and you represent and warrant that you have the right to grant, to Mimika Oh an irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive, transferable, fully paid, worldwide license to use, copy, publicly perform, publicly display, reformat, translate, excerpt (in whole or in part) and distribute the photograph for the purpose of promoting Bibiten and its products, to prepare derivative works of the photograph, or incorporate the photograph into other works.

Bibiten leaving XStreetSL

Linden Labs announced large fees for listing items on XStreetSL. Because I provide many colours and patterns this makes it impossible for me. My items will soon not be available on XStreetSL. I am sorry for the inconvenience.

Many merchants are leaving XStreetSL. I recommend you all look at alternatives. Please try:
I do not know yet which will be most popular.

Thank you for shopping with me!

Fitting your cheongsam better

Bibiten Cheongsams are made using the infamous “system skirt”.  I found this useful tutorial about how to make them look better.

http://wehatewhatyourewearing.blogspot.com/2009/05/tutorial-system-skirts-are-your-friend.html

“…not only can system skirts look good, but with the right shape (and the right skirt), they can be some of the best parts of your wardrobe.”

There is also this video tutorial.

The BibiMart Flea Market

The BibiMart Flea Market is a place where anyone can sell their creations.  It's in a corner of the popular Bibiten clothes store.  It can help you get started in Second Life business when you don't have any land.

To get started, make a 0.1x0.9x0.9m cube, put your things for sale inside, change the texture and name and description to show what's inside, and set it for sale, put it on the wall on a marked square.  Touch the BibiMart sign for an empty cube you can use.

You do not need to join a group to place your cubes.  Your cubes will automatically return to you after 14 days.  You can place them again if you want to and there is room.

Rules
  1. You can only place 0.1x0.9x0.9m cubes.
  2. You can place up to three cubes.
  3. The cubes must be in the correct position on the wall.  (Use the grid!)
  4. No resale.  No affiliates.  Only sell your own creations.
  5. No adult rated items for sale.
  6. No lights, floating text, rotation, sounds, transparency, physical objects, or glow. Full bright is recommended.
  7. No scripts except vending scripts.  Bibiten recommends hippoVEND.
  8. If there are no slots on the wall, the market is full. Please try later!

Your objects might be returned for any reason without discussion.

Rationale

I'm running BibiMart for these reasons:
  • It's a fun experiment and I'd like to see what things appear on my shelves.
  • When I started in SL I couldn't find a way to sell without land.
  • It might increase visitors to my store.
  • Some of the boxes are from friends whose things I like.

Thank you

Naonao Watanabe's Dmart for such a nice and friendly idea!  ありがとうございま〜す
